Toronto, ON, July 17, 2014 – 4,000 hours, 200 days, 15 people and lots of coffee. This is what it took to create an award-winning website that enhanced connections between a school board and its community. Last month, 108 ideaspace and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, received a 2014 Award of Merit from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
“This new site is a central hub for the board’s stakeholders: from parents to students; from vendors to job seekers; and for the general public and the Catholic community,” says Randall Craig, president of 108 ideaspace. “It’s a privilege to receive this recognition.”
This North American awards recognizes outstanding publications and marketing materials produced for school districts.
The website’s responsive design was developed with the needs of today’s parents and students in mind. Visitors can access the site on desktop and mobile devices without compromising the layout, features, or overall function. This site is also accessible for individuals with disabilities.
The new site features:
- Bright pop-up announcement/alerts (i.e. school closures, weather conditions)
- Current school board information
- Impactful photographs of Dufferin-Peel students
- Information for newcomer families (translations also available in four languages)
- Multi-navigation access points to information
- School spotlight section
- In addition, 149 individual school sites were redesigned with the new look and capability of the board’s site
